About Us
Husband and wife team, Erik Nissen and Pia Sorensen established Nissen Quality Cabinetmakers in 1985. Their business is based on skilled workmanship and unique design ideas. Over the years, their commitment to quality has led Nissen to multiple Housing Industry Association (HIA) awards for excellence, receiving their first in 1993.
Originally from Denmark, the couple relocated to Australia in 1978 and made Mackay their home. They now operate from a 36-acre rainforest property at Mount Mandurana, ‘The Leap’, which is a 15 minute drive north of Mackay. Their son, Scott Nissen, is also an integral part of the business.
Innovation is Our Reputation
Nissen offers a wide range of design solutions, a well-equipped showroom and has an impressive portfolio of previous work. A 3D CAD program is also used to help clients visualise their final design and colour choices.
Pia and Erik keep up-to-date with innovations and new trends at major design exhibitions across Australia and have regularly visited Europe to stay ahead of the trends. Their European background influences their work, particularly the sleek Scandinavian styles.
